Just imagine multiple riders performing intricate, close order
precision moves on machines valued in the tens of thousands of dollars. Feel
the pucker-power as they hurtle towards each other in a seemingly head-on
course or ride a fast figure eight across each other's paths and go into
opposing circles, and then inner and outer circles just to name a few and
appreciate the discipline to ride in a tight formation as if they were one; so
tight that you believe another coat of paint will cause them to touch.
The Daytona Beach Harley Davidson Drill Team is in there 10th year.
They have performed all over the Southeast at rally's in places like Myrtle
Beach, SC, Athens, GA, Dothan, AL, Savannah, GA, Panama City, Leesburg,
Claremont, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, St. Petersburg, FL. They have
also competed in National competition in Springfield, MO, and Nashville, TN.
These riders have committed at least one night of every week to their
practices, with additional practice added prior to upcoming events.
Although they all enjoy the riding, they all have a new appreciation for the
motorcycles they ride. The riding has taught them skills that all riders
can use in their day to day riding. The team's primary objective after
performing is to promote motorcycle safety. They are a non-profit group
that also enjoys volunteering their time giving rides to the elderly at
nursing homes or the kids at Boggy Creek Camp or promoting ARC Charity Rides
and more.
